Instead it will have a “children’s play garden, sledding hill, green spaces for outdoor gatherings, basketball courts, and even a recording studio.” Scholars and historians have begun to talk about how this decision will impact research capabilities. “Traditionally, Presidential Libraries are places where historians, academics and college students travel to dig through paperwork and hold the first drafts of speeches, letters and legislation in their hands. But without those papers on site, some have begun to ask whether the Obama Center will attract researchers.” Currently, the National Archives and Records Administration has plans to digitize all of the materials so that they can be available to researchers. Physical materials/artifacts have been shipped back to Washington DC, stored in a NARA facility (source: || #archives #presidentialarchives #presidential #obamaarchives #nationalarchives #nara #digitalarchives #digitization #artifacts #manuscripts #scholarlyresearch #historicresearch #historian #presidentialhistory
